Hsifeng,

The convention is to call children's literature a genre. You can't call it a media. So if you have a better term I'd like to hear it. Perhaps 'category'?

Ed Sizemore Says:

"...The second chapter I found moving is when Nana's mother accidently throws out her favorite doll, Katie. Nana and Majoko travel to the Land of Toys to find the doll. They find out how bitter abandoned and abused toys feel. They also discover the power of love. Katie is able to use all the love Nana has given her over the years to reform one of the abandoned toys, making him happy and emotionally whole. It's a touching lesson on treating our possessions with respect..."

This reminds me here of someone who's appreciated the same teddy bear from infancy through adulthood. :)

Ed Sizemore Says:

"...Having an 8 year old nephew who is an avid reader has made me appreciate children's literature more. I also find I truly enjoy the genre..."

Why call children's literature a genre? It's even better than that - it's available in more than one genre (there's SF children's lit, historical fiction children's lit, etc.). :)

Tim, thanks. Having an 8 year old nephew who is an avid reader has made me appreciate children's literature more. I also find I truly enjoy the genre. I'm having fun discovering these great books that like you I would normally pass by.

Nice review Ed. To be honest, this is exactly the sort of thing I wouldn't normally think of picking up, but you've made me want to check it out now. As if I don't have enough to read already :/
