I consider the red tie version of Tom and Jerry to be by far the best version of T&J. I think Jerry looks good in a red tie & besides those T&J cartoons have the world's best theme song. Mostly I like it best because Tom doesn't have as much bad luck & I always stick up for him when I watch T&J. Those T&J's, I'm telling you, are more original than any of the others.

I was wondering if anybody could help me figure out an old cartoon from the late 60's early 70's. It featured a man that flew on a guitar and a muscle man statue that would come to life when need. Other characters which i cannot remember. PLEASE help me with finding the name of this cartoon.

I am a HUGE fan of composer Ted Nichols' scores for the 1960s Hanna Barbera superhero shows (Young Samson, etc.) -- not just the theme music, but also the background music. Was this music ever collected on LP or CD? If not, are there plans to do so?

I would hesitate to spend money on these collections because I wouldn't like all of the things they contain. If Hanna-Barbera ever put out an assortment DVD of just their realistically-drawn super-heroes--like the Superfriends, Birdman, and Space Ghost, as opposed to the Impossibles or Captain Caveman--I would definitely get that.

I would also totally buy a Hanna-Barbera 1980s compilation, with shows like Pac-Man, Snorks, and Gobots--provided they truly stuck to the '80s and didn't try to fob off something from 1976 on us.

Thanks for reviewing these - I'd been debating whether or not to pick up the 70s vol II ( which is where the Shazzan doc is located, if memory serves).

Delighted to see the Banana Splits mentioned - Gene Pitney! Who knew.

Aghast to be reminded of the barren 70s - remember the "I Dream Of Jeannie" toon with the plump buffoon genie? "The Partridge Family 2200 AD?" The animated Bradys ( with an appearance by Wonder Woman?)
It is to cry.

Thanks for the work, KC and Johanna
