The original motion picture soundtrack for Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel is available for MP3 download at Amazon for $4 today only.

I’m not suggesting you buy this, because who can stand listening to a whole album of that squeaky stuff?, but it is kind of amusing to go over and listen to the samples. Especially since the girl chipmunks, the Chipettes, tackle such pop hits as “Hot N Cold” and “Single Ladies”. (As if that song wasn’t already fast enough!)

The Chipmunks, meanwhile, perform such disco classics as “Stayin’ Alive”, “Shake Your Groove Thing”, and “We Are Family”. (Speeded-up disco = recipe for heart attack, but it seems to match little kid energy.) The movie comes out December 23, just in time for that family holiday movie-going moment when you’ve got to get the kids out of the house.

Why do you have to be so cruel? I own several of the older Chipmunk albums and listen to both of their Christmas albums yearly. Their music is a delight. It’s good fun, not ‘squeaky stuff’. I’m going to have to get you the Christmas albums so you can appreciate thier positive contributions to the annuals of music.

LOL seriously though, my favorite Chipmunk album was their country one. Especially a song that had Simon trying to grammatically correct a then hit country song “There A’int Nothing Wrong with the radio” to “There Isn’t….”

I hope they keep this price for a little bit, as I’ll want to buy it. Thanks for the pointer Johanna!

The Chipmunks would probably get more respect from Johanna if there was a Chipmunk (and/or Chipette) manga.

I, on the other hand, have already gone public with owning old Chipmunk albums. http://comicsworthreading.com/2008/11/24/the-archies-and-alvin-new-cds/

Am also anxiously awaiting the original, complete The Alvin Show (with Clyde Crashcup) cartoon from the 1960′s on DVD. Hopefully in 2010!

does anyone know to which chipette the names belong? like whats the name of the thedore looking one whats the name of the simon looking one and whats the name of the alvin looking one because i know all 3 names just not who they belong to. it would be a big help thanks.).(
