To promote the June release of the coffee table book Black Comix: African American Independent Comics, Art and Culture, its authors have launched a blog to provide more information about black comics and artists.
The book celebrates the “vibrant African American independent comics community … Black Comix brings together an unprecedented collection of largely unheard of, and undeniably masterful, comics art while also framing the work of these men and women in a broader historical and cultural context.” The foreword is by Keith Knight (The K Chronicles). I don’t know whether this is intended to be an anthology (reprinting little-known comic stories) or a survey book (talking *about* the stories, characters, and artists), but I suspect we’ll get more information as release date approaches.
The authors, Damian Duffy and John Jennings, previously created The Hole: Consumer Culture, and in 2007, they curated the show Other Heroes: African American comics creators, characters & archetypes.

Hi Johanna!
It’s closer to survey. We intend it as sort of a coffee table/art book, sort of like an art show catalog, with articles about some of the important people, conventions, etc.

Oh, neat! Thanks for clarifying that for me. I look forward to seeing it!
