Johanna Says:

"...Akabane doesn’t have any of the traditional vampire abilities or weaknesses, just a taste for blood, so he works as a hospital nurse collecting blood from donors..."

Is this set in an alternate universe in which there isn't a shortage of donated blood for patients who actually need blood transfusions? I ask because the first thing that came to my mind is "sure he's not killing the people whose blood he drinks like Dracula did in Bram Stoker's novel, but IRL diverting donated blood away from transfusions still kills people so it's still a horror story, right?" Does the story include any other blood donor characters besides Mayazumi, and if so then do they get pissed off with Akabane a la "hey I gave my blood for patients, stop drinking it!" before he makes a separate arrangement with Mayazumi?

Johanna Says:

"...The events are ridiculously outrageous — Mayazumi’s reason for wanting to give up his blood is silly and overly literal — but amusing in their good-hearted charm..."

Speaking of amusing reasons to donate, you might like the Redeem Yourself ad campaign that Door Number 3 did for the Blood Center of Central Texas. :)
