I LOVE Goldie Gold and Action Jack. I was 7/8 when it aired. No one I know has ever heard of the show. It was excellent in my opinion. I remember always yelling at the TV for Jack to "kiss her, already!"

I was also addicted to Thundarr the Barbarian, He-Man, Dungeons and Dragons, and the Transformers.

Later, I became addicted to the original Yugi-Oh cartoon and Digimon.

A mistake, I assure you. Full of voice cameos from Second City vets, as well as one of the very few humorous 80s cartoons not just narrowcasted at little kids, with good old-fashioned references and gags aimed at surprising the parents.

Huh. I was just thinking about Goldie Gold the other day, too. I don't think I ever watched more than an episode or two, but it certainly left an impression.

I remember really enjoying the Ed Grimley cartoon. It had a sense of humor that was very unusual for Saturday morning at the time, and while I can see why it only lasted one season, I really enjoyed it. I say give it a shot.

And while I liked Thundarr, the whole post-apocalyptic setting really scared me when I was little. But, still, guy with a lightsaber (or Sun Sword, whatever), Ookla the Mok and his horse, and a bunch of Kirby monsters... hard to go wrong there.

Oh, wow, I don't recall that at all ... but I never watched any of the Flintstones spinoffs, to the best of my memory. Neat, thanks for educating me!

The Capt. Caveman shorts I referred to on said Flintstones spinoff didn't have the Teen Angels, but were something of a Superman parody: Cap as Bedrock's superhero and working in a secret identity at the "Daily Granite" newspaper as a copyboy alongside reporters Wilma and Betty (playing "Lois"), with Cavey fighting various villains (vaguely recall one villain being someone from the "future", ie the 20th century, though could be wrong...).

Ah, I didn't notice the earlier disclaimer. It's a good idea.

Your remember list is not at all like mine, although I would have loved to have seen Captain Caveman (and his three Charlie's Angels-like sidekicks) again.

Not seen this set yet (renting it from Netflix, which thanks to their dubious recent deal with Warner Bros. to delay new releases by a month and a queue of other material, it'll be awhile before I see it), but the same disclaimer about picture quality was in place on the 60s and 70s sets as well. Though would think it'd apply moreso for those two sets, given the age of the shows there ("The Road Runner Show" and "Magilla Gorilla" episodes on the 60s set definitely showed it). Though I did grow up during the 80s, so I've already seen most of the shows before... :-p

I don't think I've ever seen Goldie Gold before; I am interested in re-watching "Ed Grimley" though (saw a bit of it when it was originally on, but don't recall much; I did like SCTV though), along with the Biskitts (Smurfs knockoff), Monchhichis (based on some Japanese toy), and the Flintstone Kids (would've liked to have seen the early 80s "Flintstone Comedy Show" thrown in, at least for its Capt. Caveman shorts).
