Seriously, I’m glad to hear that things weren’t as dire as the conclusions I may have jumped to, and I hope Random continues the series (for consistency, if nothing else). I look forward to seeing what else you come up with!

Nope! Nothing so sinister. Just had a heart-to-heart with my wife and decided it was time to shake things up. The book deal with Random House was for three books. I honestly don’t know what my publisher wants to do with future volumes yet, although I do plan to release the final two books of the series (4 & 5) in some form regardless of what happens next. I hope Random House wants to publish them! We haven’t talked to them about it yet, though, since Book 3 needs to come out first before we can have that discussion.

I’m personally very happy with the sales of the first two books so far. From the numbers I’ve seen it’s far outselling my earlier efforts, but it has been suggested to me by people with far more experience in these matters than I have that large publishing companies may have different expectations than small self-employed creators.
