I’m looking forward to seeing this, since Ed recommended it highly. The Secret of Kells is an animated fantasy set in medieval Ireland using Celtic mythology. It was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards, losing the Oscar to Up. It will be out on DVD and Blu-ray on October 5.

I’m really looking forward to the Blu-Ray. The theater had a less than perfect copy of the film. It was a gorgeous, touching film. The blend of Celtic Mythology and Celtic Christianity is very intriquing. Plus it has Pangur Ban! How can you not love a film featuring an 8th Century cat?

We too had access to the film only through our local arts theatre which meets the bare minimu requirements to be called a theatre. It will be luxurious in HD. Nowadays, it’s not often I look forward to purchasing a film, but this is going to be a must-have.

I saw this movie during the DC International film fest. It is quite well done, and second (or third) the recommendation.
