Archie Comics has announced that, in their work “giving the world more outstanding shout-outs to today’s teens”, they’re going to parody the teen vampire sensation Twilight with “Twilite”.

In Archie & Friends #146, due August 11, “two new mysterious students arrive in Riverdale.” The girls fall for Ivan, but Jared wants help showing everyone Ivan’s really a vampire. The two-part story concludes in issue #147. (Ivan’s drawn pretty cute, for Archie style.)

I’d be more interested if this was a special digest, with a new opening story, and then reprints consisting of the other vampire stories Archie’s done over the years, such as some of the issues from the Archie’s Weird Mysteries series from earlier this decade. Wouldn’t it be neat tracing portrayals of vamps over the years through the eyes of America’s Teen?
