Wizard Confirms Mid-Ohio-Con Acquisition

A week after the news broke (and everyone at the show was already talking about it), Heidi posts that Wizard has confirmed that they’ve bought Mid-Ohio-Con. The next show will be held October 22-23, 2011, in Columbus, Ohio.

Wizard World Mid Ohio

“We are thrilled to join the Wizard World Tour,” said James Henry, Managing Director of Mid-Ohio-Con. The first announced guests? Rob Liefeld, Adam West, and Burt Ward. Hollywood-ers trading on projects done almost 50 years ago and a “bad boy” former Image artist who’s known for controversy, not skill. Yep, sounds like a Wizard show.

This year, one-day passes were $15, two-day $25, VIP passes $100 (which got you early admission and limited comics, poster, and bag). Next year, they will be $30 for one day, $45 for two — although if you buy early, you can save $5 — and $200 for the VIP package, which right now includes two comics. So, yeah, Wizard doubled the admission costs without any evidence they’ll be providing double the guests.
