True, other than the Spectre they have also all starred characters who have been active in other things first. (Jonah Hex movie, Green Arrow’s role in Smallville and Shazam had Superman guest)

I would hope that maybe because the Shazam movie was so recent the team that does the shorts had been working on it so no short for this. I personally would love to see, but doubt I ever will, an Elongated Man and his wife Sue adventure short. (or at least that Justice League era)

I think those first ones were considered TV show spin-offs, not truly original films.

Sigma7, I suspect Morrison is getting the focus here because he’s part of the extras and has a certain fan following. I hope Quitely gets proper credit on the movie, too.

Can anyone tell me why this movie isn’t counted as the 15th original film direct to video? There were at least 5 films prior to Doomsday (4 Batman and a Superman I believe).

That Quietly doesn’t get a mention is disappointing — I’ve not always been his biggest fan, but this series was probably his second-best work (next to We3) and if the cover is any indication, they’re following in his visual footsteps very closely, certainly close enough to at least warrant a credit. Am hoping it’s just a press-release oversight and that he gets recognition on the movie itself.

And please, let Alexis Denisof be Leo Quintum. And Ed Asner is always welcome, whether he’s Perry White or Granny Goodness.

That’s true, there isn’t a short cartoon listed as part of this release. Those were used to focus on characters that should be better known — I thought of them as pilots, ways to test the waters and see how people reacted to the characters. But if Warner has cut back to only featuring Superman and Batman (and Green Lantern, apparently, due to the movie), then they may no longer be necessary. Unfortunately, because they were good to watch.

I’m looking forward to seeing this as its the best Superman story in over a decade probably. (not counting Superman: SI, but that wasn’t Superman, Superman)

I hope they aren’t stopping the DC Shorts though….
