Marvel Comics Now Available on Android Via Graphic.ly

Graphic.ly announced this morning that their Android application is now available. According to their release, they feature cross-platform updating, so whichever version of Graphic.ly you buy a comic through, those comics will appear in your library in their other applications. But more significantly, they are the only place to find Marvel on Android, which is something customers have been asking for. (Although ComiXology carries Marvel and is available on Android, their Marvel publications are blocked from that platform.)

I had thought that Graphic.ly was running behind its competitors, but with this announcement, I think they gained new market share. They cite in their release a “library of more than 2,000 comics” from more than 150 publishers as well as a potential audience of “22 million people” using Android. Other publishers they carry include Archaia, IDW, and Boom! Graphic.ly is also promising same-day availability for Archie with print and digital versions beginning in April, plus they hope to be announcing that same “day and date” availability for more publishers soon.
