I have always been fond of this cover, mainly for the color scheme:

Some of my all-time favorite Archie covers (and stories as well) come from the early/mid-90’s Jughead relaunch, some of which can be found here:

Particular favorites are issues 18, 28, 33, 34 and 36, but if I could get any of them in poster size it would be the Jughead: The Soap Opera cover!

  4. Ted Nichols Says:

Pep #158 with Archie dismissing the existence of ghosts while being held aloft in a chair by one. Jughead looks on in hair raised horror.

  5. Jay Says:

Only taking into account what is at allposters, my favorite of the ones they have is:

    Go Betty!

  6. Grant Says:

I have that Josie and The Pussycats issue. Cool.

I’ve always like this one. Alison Flood worked well with Dan DeCarlo. Whatever happened to her?

I would go with the Josie cover #34, Though a couple of the Pep covers stood out as well. I like the mod style of the Josie cover and the colors stand out. My favorite Archie covers (and series for that matter)is the late 60’s early 70’s Life with Archie series. I always liked the mystery – suspense drama weaved within the title. Plus they were sometimes longer and had a bit of breathing room so they were not so gag heavy. Loved looking at all the Archie covers at the site. I was suprised how many I remembered.

OK, so I guess my favorite Archie cover is not as “old school” as I thought it would be. My first instinct was to say “any Bob Montana cover featuring Veronica,” but I am essentially a Betty-man at heart, so I couldn’t do that. I also like “series encaspulating” covers, like Harry Lucey’s Life With Archie #2, as well as any number of groovy Dan DeCarlo mod masterpieces, or even some of Stan Goldberg’s designs, but, in the end, I have discovered a surprising favorite.

It is…(drumroll, please)…Veronica #202, featuring Kevin Keller! It’s historic and all, of course (even just for introducing a new character of any sort to the regular cast), but it is my favorite mostly because the artist, Dan Parent, was a classmate and friend of mine in college. Even then, I (and everyone else around him) knew that someday he would be the artist who not only drew the Riverdale residents, but would become one of the all-time Archieverse greats. With that issue’s introduction of Kevin, I believe Dan has secured himself in the pantheon of those I have named above!

Being more of a newer Archie fan, I like the Archie #611 cover. It really capture the klutz, Archie, his adventures, and of coarse, the comedy, as falling off of a roof is funny.
