Femme Fatales Series, Based on Magazine, Debuts Friday
May 10, 2011

If you were to tell me that Cinemax had a new anthology TV series, I would not be surprised to hear it featured a variety of sexy women. Femme Fatales, based on the men’s magazine, debuts on the pay cable channel this Friday at 11 PM Eastern. Here’s the trailer: (I like the song!)

I’m mentioning this, although I won’t be watching (no pay channels), because show creator Mark Altman (former co-producer of Castle) is pushing it as “film noir, only in color, in the tradition of films like Double Indemnity, The Big Sleep, and Body Heat.” I don’t know if it follows through on that premise — and he also notes that it has “all the requisite sex and violence you’d expect on Cinemax” — but if it comes close, I knew some readers would want to know about it. If you get Cinemax and watch this, let me know what you think!

As I recall, the Femme Fatale magazine was basically interviews and cheescake shots of B movie actresses. I thought the mag went belly up in the early 90s.

And no pay channels? Does that mean you’re not able to watch the absolute awesomeness that is Game Of Thrones?

I only get HBO and Showtime so I won’t be able to catch Femme Fatale. Something tells me I won’t be missing much.

I’m not sure the mag still exists. Wikipedia says something about ownership changing hands and relaunching, but that note is several years old now.

I’m not a big fantasy fan, so no, I’m not watching Thrones (or feel like I’m missing out :) ).

I think I have Cinemax free for a year as part of a valued customer promotion from Dish Network. I’ll DVR the first ep and see how it is.

There is a big mistake in the title : fatale is plural and femme singular should be either femme fatale, either femmes fatales….they should be shameful !
