Win the Transformers: Beast Wars Complete Series on DVD
June 7, 2011

Out today in stores is Transformers: Beast Wars Season 1, a four-DVD set collecting the first season of the 1996 animated series for $29.93 US.

Also available today, but only through the Shout! Factory store, is the eight-disc Complete Series set collecting all 52 episodes from all three seasons. Thanks to the generosity of the studio, I have THREE of these 15th Anniversary Complete Series sets to give away to readers. Here’s the official description:

In 1996, Transformers fans were introduced to this stunning saga between the heroic Maximals and the evil Predacons, where these powerful Transformers disguised themselves as some of the fiercest and most ferocious animals on Earth. In a flash of an instant, these beasts turned into battle-tested robot warriors ready for combat. Created by Hasbro and produced by Mainframe Entertainment, the hugely successful animated series Transformers: Beast Wars ran for three successful television seasons and garnered an Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation.

Beast Wars Complete Series

Jam packed with hours of entertaining content, this Complete Series Collector’s Edition contains the entire CG animated series of BEAST WARS and a bounty of stellar extras, including retrospective featurettes, a 12-page book, art galleries, plus a special collectible 24-page comic book Transformers Timelines “Dawn of the Future’s Past.” Originally published by Fun Publications for BotCon, the official Transformers convention, in 2006, the comic book is the official prequel story leading right up to the start of Beast Wars and offers valuable insight into all the events that led to Optimus Primal chasing after Megatron and Predacons!

Here’s a trailer for the first season set:

And here’s a clip showing some of the animals:

If you’d like to enter, simply post a comment here telling me your favorite animal you’d like to see a robot version of. Winner will be picked randomly from all entries on Friday, June 10. For a second chance to win, post a comment (with a link) showing me you linked this contest on Twitter. Tell your friends!

(U.S. and Canada addresses only. Winners will be emailed to confirm address. If email is not answered within 24 hours or a valid email address is not provided, a replacement winner will be selected. Your email won’t be used for any other purpose.)

I want to see a robot mongoose. Because NOBODY ever expects the robot mongoose.

John Taber writes:

A robot giraffe. That would be cool. :)

I always wanted to see Leo Convoy done in the Beast Wars cartoon.

So, I want to see a Robot Lion. If the japanese can have one, why can’t I?

An enormous cockroach. They’re indestructible!

J. Nick writes:

A sloth. Or a turtle. Why do the strong and fast animals get to be the only robots?

Chris Collins writes:

Platypus. Because the transformers were hybrids between robots and beasts (or cars or whatever) and I like the idea of a hybrid, hybrid. A duck/beaver/robot would be awesome!

I’d love to see a penguin. It could slide on ice and dance, and maybe its flippers could turn into a snowboard.

ShadZ writes:

A robot snail would be cool, because it would have lots of storage space for weapons and such…

Tara Tallan writes:

Robot blue whale. Someone’s gotta reclaim the oceans. ;-)

He’s the best at what he does, a Wolverine transformer.

Kat Kan writes:

Robot tanuki!

Josh writes:

A robot anteater. There aren’t enough robot anteaters out there.

Maddy writes:

I always thought a Snake would be an interesting beast mode for a transformer. Very different form of mobility.

Michael Paciocco writes:

I have to go with a Polar bear.

A turkey buzzard, sweet!

hardtravelinghero writes:

It’d be awesome to see a moth. I don’t think there’s ever been a moth transformer.

Paul Mata writes:

Robot jellyfish! :D

Glad to spread the word, it was a great series!

A Robot Duck.

There totally should have been a seahorse transformer.

Betenoire writes:

Hippo. They look dumb but are about the nasty and most dangerous creature on 4 legs.

garrett writes:

I would like to see a penguin.

Johanna writes:

Thanks to you all for your clever and hilarious ideas. I would LOVE to see these robots! Great entertainment reading all these. I have emailed the three winners, and thanks to everyone for reading!

Ranma711 writes:

Yahoooo :)

hardtravelinghero writes:

I won! Awesome!

I love hippo, sloth, and especially anteater and sea horse. WTF, Takara?

A lot of the other suggestions were at least made into toys in Japan, but not in the states, though there was a polar bear in the US, Polar Claw, some giant bugs (not a cockroach), there was a giraffe and it was awesome, as well as a penguin. http://www.BWTF.com

Did I seriously just miss this contest by less than and hour and a half? *Sigh* Oh well. As far as toys go, I’m pretty sure most animals have been covered. A walrus would be interesting, but maybe a transmetal 2 timber wolf would also be pretty sleek.

Ian writes:

Apparently you’re running East Coast time, I amend my question.

Ian, a walrus is a great idea. I too find I have to be sure to keep up with this blog very frequently otherwise I miss many awesome contests.

Johanna writes:

That’s the idea! I love rewarding readers.
