Grant, I didn't say she was never sexualized. I said that run treated her with more than just objectification, in contrast to your point that she was always handled that way.

DC has put out these images and blurbs to get attention and ramp up excitement. It's perfectly fair to say "no, that's not attractive or interesting to me".
The comic isn't out yet. And I read Brubaker and Stewarts run and to say that there was never any sexualizing of catwoman the entire time is preposterous. I have the trades and I'll be more than happy to do a page by page with you.

It seems like you're trying hard not to like it based on not seeing the comic, typical solicit blurb hyperbole and a zipper that's been much lower than the one shown on the cover. Maybe we should actually read the comic and then start with the indignant fan thing. I know that's not how it's usually done in comic world, but what the heck.
When has Catwoman ever not been a book about a sexy character to oogle? Ever since her reinvention at the hands of Miller when she went from interesting society woman with mental instability to the terribly cliche "hooker/thief with a heart of gold", the sex angle has been played up ad nauseum. And I'm not just talking about Balent. So I'm not getting the angry reaction to this new book that is clearly more of the same. If the art is decent, I'll get it.

I thought the Frankenstein segment of Seven Soldiers was great. If they have the same artist that drew him before, I'll definitely be on board. However, I do not like the Flashpoint Frankenstein thing. The art is horrible.

Other #1's I'm going to check out...

Captain Atom. I love the original Ditko version and the Cary Bates series from the 90s. However, the solicit for this makes it sound like they're trying to turn Captain Atom into Dr. Manhattan. I know Atom was a loose template for Moore's character, but Atom was always light hearted fun. We'll see. I like the character so I'll give it a chance. I just hope they bring back Nightshade as his love interest.

Superman. Only because Perez is on it. Hopefully he'll last more than 6 issues before he bails. The only other person that could draw me to Superman is Gary Frank.

Firestorm. This is a buy. I've always liked Firestorm.

Dark Justice League. I agree with you all the way on this. The cast of characters sounds intriguing. Hopefully it will have better luck than other Magic themed books usually do.

BOP. I like the idea of Poison Ivy on the team so that's a yes.

Wonder Woman. Definitely. But I am really sick of the "angry warrior" thing. Really, really, really sick. Hope they go in a different direction, otherwise, I'm out.

Resurrection Man. Hell yes. Abnett and Lanning? Double hell yes.

Black Hawk. I'm too big a fan of the old stories to not give this a try.

Suicide Squad. The classic "Dirty Dozen" premise is just too inherently entertaining for me to not give this a try. But I miss Ostrander.

Voodoo. Hmm. Ok.

Justice League International. More inclined to check this one out than I am "Justice League". But I'll give both a shot.

Hawkman. I want to like Hawkman but no one has done a decent job with this character since the Kubert days. Although the Wednesday Comics entry was pretty awesome as well. I'll give it a shot.

Mister Terrific. Depends on the art.

Batgirl. Yes. Actually, I was rather apathetic about this one. I like Millers current Batgirl and I like Barbara Gordon. But when the pro Oracle fan rage went beyond the pale and they started to hurl names at Simone like "ableist sellout", and after reading Gails response to Pantozzi's essay (which puts a big period at the end of the whole discussion), I decided I wanted this to succeed all the way. I might even buy two.

Over all, I hope this works. I was never a big fan of the majority of DC stuff but I admit I'm excited about some of the new titles and interested in seeing how this all plays out. And the over all, mindbogglng fan rage directed at DC and the bludgeoning they're taking at the hands of Marvel has now made them the underdog in my eyes.

But to be clear, I still prefer Marvel. ;)
