Wandering Son on Manga Out Loud

In the latest episode of the Manga Out Loud podcast, Ed and I were joined by David Welsh, Erica Friedman, and Phillip to discuss the Fantagraphics manga Wandering Son.

We talk about the value of translation/cultural end notes (which inspired a followup post by David) and the pacing of the series in light of Takako Shimura’s career. It’s a wonderful read that we all enjoyed and recommend. Also recommended is the anime adaptation, available for free watching on Crunchyroll.

We all enjoyed the discussion so much we’re planning on another round when Book Two comes out in November.

  1. Like I told Ed on Twitter yesterday, this was an awesome episode, and quite possibly my favorite MOL so far. Looking forward to volume 2′s discussion!
