Robot6 reports that DC Entertainment notified comic retailers of an upcoming partnership with National CineMedia, a movie theater advertising company.
A 30-second ad promoting “DC Comics – The New 52″ can be customized to include a card with local store information. DC will cover 75% of the cost through co-op reimbursement, and they hope that this will help retailers “get the word out to both new and lapsed readers in their areas”.
The snag is that, due to the timing of the DC relaunch, ads will run during the month of September, which means they’re out of the range of the biggest summer movies. However, there’s no point in advertising the new comics before they’re available, so I can’t see that the effort could be effective any earlier.
