In his latest Westfield column, KC gets silly with some suggestions for items to “improve” comics, wonders what happened to regular folks in superhero stories, and proposes a new award category. Here’s a question to cause trouble: Who’d be your nomination for Most Frustrating Creator?
Plus, you can see a picture of him pretending he’s got a lobster claw.

Most frustrating creator…. hmmmm…
I’m going to say someone that’ll get me creamed by both sides here and say Geoff Johns.
I can’t get upset about creators whose works is just bad (Or that I feel are bad) as that’s just who they are. If a place I eat at has a bad cook, its my fault for still going there if I don’t like their food.
Geoff has written some really great superhero stuff, his Booster Gold, some of his early run on GL (especially that short drawn by Darwyn Cooke where Kyle & Hal go flying) just really hit home for me.
Yet then he has other stuff that just frustrates the hell out of me, as I don’t understand how the same writer can do this stuff. The death porn of Blackest Night, the naval gazing his JSA became, etc.
He’s a creator I don’ have a basis with, as either it can be really good or really bad.

“Do most superhero comic book writers not relate to or identify with real people any more?”
No, no they do not.
Though to be fair, most Genre authors seem unable and/or unwilling to deal with plain old folk anymore. *Everyone* has to *Sparkle*!

Good point, James, that inconsistency can be maddening.

One thing KC said about seeing real supporting characters struck me upon rereading it today. With Clark & Lois now having never been married now & discounting Levitz’s LSH title. Are there any married superheroes in the new DC? If not then i say bring back Ralph & Sue for diversity’s sake! Lol

I’m for anything that brings them back! So long as they’re not mopey and dead.
