Gantz Comes to DVD This Month; Sequel Airs in San Francisco

The Gantz live-action movie, which had its world premiere in January, will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on August 30.

Gantz is based on a manga series by Hiroya Oku, published in the US by Dark Horse, and stars Japanese actors Kazunari Ninomiya (Letters from Iwo Jima) and Kenichi Matsuyama (Death Note, Detroit Metal City).

The Blu-ray combo pack has a suggested retail price of $29.99, while the DVD is listed at $24.92. The unrated movie is described as featuring “both English and Japanese dialogue options and a bonus disc with an exclusive director’s interview and film trailers”. The DVD set is 2 discs; the Blu-ray, 3, since it also includes the movie on DVD.

If you’re in the San Francisco area, there are two special events around the same time you may want to check out. Gantz is showing on Friday, August 26, at New People Cinema in Japanese with English subtitles. The ticket bundle, $30 for Blu-ray or $25 for DVD, will get you admission, a copy of the movie, and a poster, or just see the movie for $10. Gantz II: Perfect Answer, the sequel, will also be showing at New People on August 27 and 28; tickets are $12.

Gantz 2
