There was a Gargoyles convention from 1997 to 2009, but no more

I noticed a combined Masters of the Universe (including She-Ra)/Thundercats convention this year, but I don’t know how long its been going on. And the Thundercats half isn’t defunct anymore (but it still was when the convention happened, I think).

There are dozens of defunct cartoons from the 80s. Off the top of my head:

* Go-bots
* Wheeled Warriors
* Blackstar
* Thundarr
* She-Ra
* Mr T and the T force
* Galaxy Rangers

I guess there have been revivals of Strawberry Shortcake, Smurfs, and My Little Pony, so your main point is valid: there’s a lot of 80s stuff floating around out there.

In fairness, I think the main reason that so few long-defunct cartoons of the 1980′s have annual conventions is that so few cartoons of the 1980′s qualify as “long-defunct” anymore. Transformers has been on TV in one form or another since the mid-1990′s, Masters of the Universe got a revival in ’02, the TMNT never really went away, and the new Thundercats started just a few months back. So that leaves Jem and, what, MASK? COPS?
