Red Sequel Planned for August 2013
October 25, 2011

I enjoyed the movie Red a lot when I saw it, so I’m thrilled to hear that a sequel is planned. Red 2 will be released by Summit Entertainment on August 2, 2013.

The premise of the original dealt with retired spies using their skills for one more mission of survival, as former co-workers were hunted down and killed. The cast — Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich among others — was terrific. The same screenwriters, Jon and Erich Hoeber, will work on the sequel, but only Willis has been confirmed as returning. Hopefully, more good news about others reprising their roles will follow. (We do have almost two years of news releases to come.)

What a pandering piece of commercial crap that movie was. One of those movies where the actors have to shower after signing their contracts, no doubt.

I found RED surprisingly good. It had action and cleverness without too much gory violence. Solid film. I liked Willis’ slow burn character.
