The thing that really gets me about this is that they put Ultraviolet Digital Copy on the cover like it was the same thing as before with a new name. So basically this streaming copy is useless to me and I spent an extra 5 bucks on it.

Good point, with older material, which is where a lot of my interest lies these days as well. I still consider my main collection DVDs, because so much of what I've bought is in that format, and they're much more flexible and portable.

It appears that Flixster is giving some people iTunes codes for movie copies if they complain. See the message here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16730283#16730283

Tangentially, I recently read that Sony's scheme for playing your existing PSP games on the PSP Vita is to register the games you've already bought and then buy them again at a discounted price.

On a not-at-all-unrelated note, I recently bought a PSP, immediately jailbroke it, and while I have purchased a physical disc copy of every game I own on it, I run them all from a memory card instead of from disc.

@Jason: I used to buy a lot of DVD's, and now I buy almost none. I think "boycott" is too strong a word, as, while I have a strong political objection to DRM, my recent choice not to buy movies is entirely a practical one. DVD is an obsolescent format, Blu-Ray is still a niche, and there is no digital format that allows a convenient way to keep all my movies in the same collection and watch them across different devices, programs, and operating systems. Meantime, I'm still subscribed to Netflix streaming (or, more accurately, my girlfriend is), but we dropped the DVD service when the price shot up.

I still buy DVD's now and again; the new Laurel and Hardy set is absolutely fantastic. Part of that, of course, is that Laurel and Hardy wouldn't look significantly better in HD. Neither would, say, 1970's Doctor Who, or most any TV show made prior to about 2006. So I still buy DVD's now and again -- just not at anything like the rate I was a few years ago.

This is the WORST idea ANYONE has EVER had. I'm so pissed right now. I did the same thing - bought Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2. Never buying an ultraviolet digital copy again. If I had have known I couldn't download it to my iTunes I never would've bought that version - I would have done what others have said; bought the regular blu-ray and then the digital copy from iTunes. Sneaky business Warner Brothers, playing on someone's preconceived notion about what a digital copy is.

I feel the same way you do Jason. I brought HPDH pt2 and couldnt find the digi dwnld and was pissed when I saw that I had to download a separate app to get the movie. So I went and downloaded from a torrent site so I can have a iTunes version of the movie for my collection. What also infuriates me is the fact that when I buy these combo packs I expect a HD digi copy not standard def. these guys will never learn. Why pay for a service that you can get for free, and its the service i want. I don't want a standard def digital copy I want a high def if you cant give me that with the $30-35 dollars that I just spent then WTF??? You spent 75mil on a system that is not established???? If they would've spent a 1/4 of that researching what we consumers really want and stop putting out garbage movies like Green Latern. They wouldn't have to come up with these harebrained schemes that piss people off and would have a loyal consumer base. They simply forget in their business we consume if it sucks we don't consume the customer is always right at least in this instance.

This is dumb. i just bought harry potter and the deathly hollows part 2 thinking i could just download to my itunes, but no, i have to download flixster and their other stupid movie app. i like to buy digital copies to watch on my i pod. but im never going to but it again if its through flixster. THERE SHOULD NOT BE AN APP TO WATCH DIGITAL COPIES ON ANDROID OR I TUNES. plus, i did download flixster and the digital copy to flixster and still doesnt work on android or i tunes. ultraviolet digital copies through flixster are a joke and would like my 25 bucks back. Very bad idea on warner bros part - i will not be buy a digital copy again from them. im sorry, but i just cant stand dumb things and this is by far something very dumb. I bought this for nothing. thank you and god bless america
