A DC Title I’ll Like: Superman Family Adventures

The folks behind one of my (and KC’s) favorite DC comics, Tiny Titans, Art Baltazar and Franco, will have another monthly DC title beginning in May. DC has announced Superman Family Adventures.
The series will be starring (you guessed it!) the whole Superman gang – Superman, Supergirl, Superboy, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Lex Luthor, Bizarro, General Zod and … Fuzzy the Krypto Mouse!… Before SUPERMAN FAMILY ADVENTURES hits stores, you’ll be able to get a sneak peak at the series in the DC Nation 2012 Free Comic Book Day Super Sampler!
That free comic giveaway will also include stories based on animated series Green Lantern and Young Justice.
Update: Well, so much for adding titles. It appears that this book will be a sort of replacement for Tiny Titans, which is being reported to end with issue #50, due out in March.

I’m pretty thrilled about this — right down to the use of the old Gaspar Saladino logo, tremendously nostalgic for me (although this version looks a mite awkward). Do they really have to use the New 52 version of the Superman outfit, though? Will they be doing the same for Supergirl and Superboy? Just who is Fuzzy the Krypto Mouse? Does that mean that in addition to him and Krypto the Super Dog there’s a Doggie the Mousey Fuzz? What about Naomi?

Good catch, about the new outfit. Although if this is anything like Tiny Titans, they’ll be making fun of it soon enough.
With a supercat and a superdog, I guess they needed a supermouse to complete the pattern.

Ever since I saw the new Muppet movie, I can’t see the new DC outfits and not think of the Moopets.

“Fuzzy the Krypto Mouse” dates back quite a few years, appearing in a single story back in 1958: http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Fuzzy_the_Mouse_%28Earth-One%29
I read the story before so heard of the guy, but still, pretty obscure even by, say, “Batamn: The Brave and the Bold” standards. ;-) I assume the new Fuzzy will be the size of a regular mouse…

Oh, my, my readers are so clever! That is quite the obscure reference.

I should have known better than to read comments about “Superman Family Adventures” before seeing the new Muppets movie. :-/

But the Moopets are in the ads? How does that spoil anything?

I’m excited to get this book for my kids, but I wish DC would stop cancelling its kids’ books once they add a new one. My kids miss you, Super Friends, and my son will miss you once you’re gone, Brave and the Bold.
Losing Tiny Titans is the real bummer, though, as they often had kid-friendly stories that centered on female heroes, and my preschool daughter loved those. But maybe Supergirl will get a chance to shine in the new book.

I know, it’s as though there was a quota that they can only put out a tiny number of all-ages work. Shame, cause those books usually end up being my favorites.

I haven’t seen any ads with Moopets. It’s a small spoiler (or no spoiler at all if my hypothesis about Moopets are in the movie is incorrect). But still…. :-/ <–note the expression of annoyance, not of anger.

…about what “Moopets” are in the movie…
