Universal has announced that they are releasing Hop (the Easter Bunny movie with the voice of Russell Brand as the rabbit) on Blu-ray and DVD on March 23, ready to put in all those Easter baskets.
The story involves the bunny (animated via CGI) making friends with “Los Angeles underachiever Fred (James Marsden, in live action)” because the rabbit really wants to be a drummer. However, when chick Carlos (Hank Azaria) tries to take over Easter, the bunny has to step up to his destiny. Here’s the trailer:
The Blu-ray Combo Pack includes both an iTunes-compatible digital copy (for a limited time) AND UltraViolet access, since Universal has apparently learned from Warner’s lesson that some customers really don’t like the UV system. There’s also a new “mini-movie” starring chicks Phil and Carlos. Additional special features include “an interactive map of Easter Island to experience the making of Hop“, some Russell Brand comedy spots with kids, more about Phil and Carlos (they’re like the yellow things from Despicable Me, aren’t they? the cute side characters everyone loves?), and three games.
Anyone seen it? I missed Hop in theaters, but it seems like it would be amusing, especially with the cast. In addition to the two guys listed above, there’s also Kaley Cuoco, Hugh Laurie, Gary Cole, and Elizabeth Perkins.
