Wonderful Comic Shop Ad

Erin at comicsgirl has posted this ad excerpt for Big Planet Comics, a Washington, D.C.-area chain of comic stores. It’s drawn by Mark Burrier.

I love the different styles and types of comics shown, even if I would have included manga instead of war as a more modern, less gender-specific choice. The punchline, where she is reading a comic he doesn’t know, is very realistic, in my experience, and I’m glad it’s handled in a light, amusing way.

Ha! You made me notice that Burrier drew the comic in all of the fantasy panels, a nice touch.

For added realism the slope of the dotted line needs to have a higher value…
