Osamu Tezuka Manga Moveable Feast This Week
Posted in Manga News on February 19, 2012 by JohannaIt’s probably about time the virtual reading club covered the legendary creator Osamu Tezuka, since he’s a major figure in the development of manga as we know it. Katherine Dacey is hosting this latest manga moveable feast, and that call for entries has lots of background links on the author. The list of participants is already quite long, given what people have already written about Tezuka. Here’s what Manga Worth Reading has previously covered:
- Apollo’s Song
- Ayako
- Black Jack 1
- Black Jack 2
- Black Jack 5
- Ode to Kirihito
- Phoenix: Dawn
- Phoenix: Future
- Phoenix: Yamato
- Phoenix: Space
- Princess Knight
- Swallowing the Earth
In addition, here are a number of related topics:
- Apollo’s Song podcast
- Barbara Kickstarter podcast
- Princess Knight podcast 1
- Princess Knight podcast 2
- Ed went to a Tezuka Film Festival
- Ed reviewed the horrendous Tezuka iPad app
- Comic Book Comics 6 has a chapter on Tezuka
- Kingyo Used Books 2 has a Tezuka-focused chapter
We’ll be adding at least one new post this week, but in the meantime, that should give you an overview of many major Tezuka works available in English.
