I would very much choose Princess of Mars over Tarzan. I never did get into the Tarzan series but love all the Carter books because they helped bring about all of the modern science fiction. Without Burroughs, Wells, and a few others, we would never have Star Trek, Doctor Who, Babylon 5, Farscape, and all the other nerdy shows (and books!) that we enjoy now.

I’d probably go with Tarzan. Not sure though–Princess could have some amazing and beautiful pictures. I read Tarzan first and his writing style had me hooked!!!

Although it is hard to choose, I’d go with Tarzan as it was the book to get me hooked on not only Burroughs, but Haggard as well!

A Princess of Mars is one of those stories that I have read and have always enjoyed re-reading. True pulp fun!

A Princess of Mars, I’ve loved the Mars books since I discovered them when I was in Jr High, and Tarzan has never clicked with me.

Tarzan! Because I was 16 before my friends explained to me that Tarzan was fiction and didn’t actually happen. (Somehow, I thought it was based on reality.)

I’ve been curious about Burroughs’ Mars series for awhile and an introduction from one of my absolute favorite novelists is all the incentive I need. I’d take A Princess of Mars!

I’d go with A Princess of Mars, if only because the way it just casually mentions “and then I developed telepathic powers that week” is the greatest one-sentence plot development handwave I’ve ever seen used in fiction.

I’d want Tarzan. It was one of the first “adult” books I can remember reading, and I still re-read it now and again. I’d really like to own a nice edition of it.

A Princess of Mars. I read the Mars book probably 30 years ago, I have always had a fascination with Mars I guess that is why I liked to book so much, since the movie came out I told my 30 year old son I would like to reread the book.
