There’s no word on the plans to bring Sabrina the Teenage Witch to TV as an animated series — sometimes that’s what happens with plans, they fall apart — but Archie has a new potential partner for a media version of the character.
Deadline reports that Sony is interested in starring the character in a movie in which she will be “recast as a superhero. The live action film will be an origin story in the vein of Spider-Man, about a young girl coming to terms with her remarkable powers.” Archie Comics Co-CEO Jon Goldwater has been set up as an executive producer, and Salem the talking cat will appear as well.
Melissa Joan Hart, shown here, played the character on a sitcom that ran from 1996 to 2003.
