According to High-Def Digest, Warner has announced that Watchmen will be getting a Collector’s Edition release on Blu-ray on November 13.
The Ultimate Cut Blu-ray is out of print and goes (per Amazon) for $50-70, so the $70 price for the collector set (although Amazon says list is $75) seems reasonable, since it includes the Ultimate Cut (which integrates the Black Freighter material, making it over 3 1/2 hours long), the Director’s Cut, the Theatrical Cut (on DVD), a hardcover copy of the graphic novel, and the motion comic.
It’s an impressive package at a reasonable price, but I do wonder if everyone who cares already has enough of the film. Still, it’s the holiday season — these boxes make for good gift bait for people who aren’t sure what to get their comic fan relatives.
