Loveless Book 9, out this week, represents Viz’s rescue of the license. Tokyopop previously published the first eight books by Yun Kouga from 2006-2008.
In addition to resuming the series (up to 10 volumes in Japan), Viz will be republishing the previous books as omnibus volumes, with the first 2-in-1 book coming out next month. They’re promising “updated translations, new lettering, retouched sound effects, and a fresh cover design” as well as six full-color pages and “50 pages of bonus comics and insightful artist commentary from Yun Kouga previously not published in North America.” List price is $14.99 (a discount for two books), but Amazon currently has the preorder at over 40% off, bringing the price well below $10.
Loveless is the story of Ritsuka Aoyagi, who is coping with the murder of his older brother and guided by “Soubi, a mysterious, handsome college student who offers him an intimate link to his brother’s other life: a dark and vibrant world of spell battles and secret names.” The boys wear cat ears, too, so long as they are virgins, making for intriguing visual symbolism.Similar Posts: Loveless Cancelled; DC Does the Right Thing § Viz Announces More Omnibus Editions as 3-in-1, Not Vizbig § Kagetora Book 8 § Pre-Order Nothing Better § Tokyopop Sells Print on Demand Books
