Unexpected DC/Marvel Crossover

Imagine my surprise, when reading Amazing Spider-Man #693, about Spider-Man’s new teen sidekick Alpha, to see this reference:
(Issue written by Dan Slott, art by Humberto Ramos and Victor Olazaba)
I see that kids hanging out in the Marvel universe still know who Superman and his supporting cast are.
I was also surprised to see, although no one makes this comparison, that Alpha is basically Ultra Boy — has all the high-level powers, but can only use one at a time.

I thought the reference was amusing as well. And yes, Alpha reminds me of a (much more annoying) Ultra Boy.
Two questions: 1) did you find a local comic shop in your new hometown? and 2) I wasn’t sure (thought I recalled you dropping such) but do you usually get superhero comics in “floppy” form (vs waiting for trade paperbacks)?

I don’t usually get single issues — but my husband still does. :) And yes, we found a great comic shop, Westfield Comics. Which was cheating, since KC worked there when he lived here before, decades ago, so we already knew about it.
