Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan are following up their Iron Man Anime series with a new feature-length direct-to-DVD animated film.
Iron Man: Rise of Technovore is due for release in spring 2013. It’s produced by Madhouse in Japan. According to the press release,
the film explores a confrontation between Iron Man and the villainous Ezekiel Stane, who develops new bio-technology that seemingly outclasses the Iron Man armor. After Stane unleashes a terrorist attack and sets Tony up to take the fall, Iron Man must evade S.H.I.E.L.D.’s manhunt and find a way to clear his name.
They’re promising appearances by War Machine, Nick Fury, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the Punisher in the anime-styled movie also, as shown by the promo art. In my opinion, the machinery (armor) looks great, the people, not as much so.
