Dark Knight Rises on DVD December 4
October 21, 2012

The Dark Knight Rises, the third in the most recent cinematic Batman trilogy (the one directed by Christopher Nolan), comes to Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download on December 4. Here’s a trailer:

I look forward to seeing Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman, and I find the extras promoting the Batmobile (as opposed to any of the human characters) amusing. On home video, you can also turn on the subtitles to check what Bane’s really saying. The sync-able tablet app should be fun, too. Here’s the official movie description, for those of you who haven’t seen the film:

The Dark Knight Rises exclusive combo pack

It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

Should be an interesting counterpoint to The Dark Knight Returns, the recent animated film with a similar “return of Batman in the dark days” theme.

If you’re looking for something special, then you may want to pre-order the limited edition from WBShop.com. For $29.95, you get the movie on Blu-ray combo pack with action figures of Batman, Catwoman, and Bane. Limited to 1000.
