Following on the heels of Sanctuary in their digital distribution program, SLG Publishing has released a six-issue series by Daniel Reed called Grubby Little Smudges of Filth. Here’s their description:
In a land ruled over by a self-indulgent king, a prisoner uses whatever filth is at hand to create a work of great beauty on his cell door. When it is discovered, those who seek to profit from his talents drag the artist through the thorny forests and sterile deserts of the kingdom. Only when he stands before the King himself will we learn of his true nature…
In the grand SLG Publishing tradition of introducing new creators and daring new concepts, we proudly present Daniel Reed and his cautionary tale about an artist who has created the world’s most beautiful piece of art using his own boogers.
It’s not at all my kind of thing, but the linework is so beautiful that I couldn’t tear my eyes away. You can read issue #1 for free at the link, in your choice of formats: PDF, CBZ, or ePub (great for iPad). The square format is better suited for digital reading than the traditional page size, too. You can buy the subsequent issues from either SLG or comiXology.
