Archie Should Not Have an Earring

Heidi MacDonald has lots and lots of pictures of products from the upcoming MAC Cosmetics “Archie’s Girls” line (although no information on date you can buy the, which I’d like to know) along with this promo picture of models vaguely playing Betty, Archie, and Veronica.
I know I said before that Archie shouldn’t be using overly retro imagery to promote this effort, but this goes too fair for me. Archie shouldn’t have an earring, let alone six and an eyebrow piercing. The girls are much too shiny, too, in my opinion. I do like his freckles, though — they look much better than Betty’s.

I absolutely believe they could have used Leigh Walton from Top Shelf and done just fine. This Archie looks like a beard for two ladies into each other. Katy Perry dress-up time.
MAC should have offered some makeup in the shape of burgers and milkshakes instead of just hearts. Booooring.

I don’t have a problem with the piercings, but why do “Betty” and “Veronica” look like mannequins? You say “too shiny”, I say “made out of plastic”. It’s like Betty and Veronica have been secretly replaced by Autons out to invade Riverdale. (Which, come to think of it, would probably make for a good crossover…)

I think that might be because of the gazes. If he were looking at either one of them instead of at the camera, it would probably be different.
