Nerd Burlesque Offers Fans Boobs During Chicago Con

Looking for something to do in the evenings while in Chicago for the Wizard World con? Gorilla Tango Burlesque is offering six different nerd-themed burlesque shows on Friday and Saturday night. Tickets are $35, or $28 per person for groups of 8 or more, and each show is about an hour.

Friday, August 9:
9 PM — Don’t Blink: A Doctor Who Burlesque
10:30 PM — Temple of Boobs: An Indiana Jones Burlesque
11:59 PM — Boobs & Goombas: A Super Mario Burlesque

Gorilla Tango Burlesque Batman show

Saturday, August 10:
9 PM — A Nude Hope: A Star Wars Burlesque
10:30 PM — The Empire Brings Sexy Back: A Star Wars Burlesque Sequel
11:59 PM — Holy Bouncing Boobies: A Batman Burlesque

Shame that these don’t fit in my schedule, because I’d be curious to see the Doctor Who and Batman ones. Shows are held at Gorilla Tango Bucktown (1919 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago IL 60647) and restricted to age 18 and over.

I’m never sure how I feel about nerd-themed burlesque. Geeky stuff is fun, sexy stuff is fun, but crossing the streams there feels kinda weird. Maybe because this is all stuff I enjoyed as a child (and that it’s stuff my child enjoys , too)? I don’t know, but it doesn’t quite pass the Reese’s test for me.

  2. Johanna Says:

One theory: if geeks see what sexy skin shows are supposed to look like, then they won’t keeping trying to force them into superhero comics that don’t need them?

Perhaps that’s a little too pointed of me.

I’ve seen a couple of these shows before and absolutely loved them!

I saw the Batman show and Doctor Who ones and as a a nerd in both those fields, I felt they were dealt proper justice in equal terms of nerdy and sexy!

The ladies were having a blast and so was the audience. You can tell the girls on stage are true fans themselves and I think the blend of these two genres , though unlikely, turn out fabulously!

  4. Johanna Says:

If you’re going to plug the show, “Patricia”, you really should reveal that you’re part of the staff.

  5. Patricia Says:

I wish I was! Those ladies seemed to be having a blast!
Sorry you’re all sour grapes Johanna.
Just trying to spread the love. :P

  6. Johanna Says:

You’re using the email domain of the production company and the address of the pseudonym of the Batman burlesque director. Don’t lie to me – this kind of pretense just makes the show look bad and makes me regret posting about the event.

  7. Eric Says:

I’ve seen and enjoyed the Super Mario show. I liked how it had a plot, unlike the non-nerd themed burlesque shows I’ve seen.
