Riverdale Podcast Covers Recent Archie News

I guested this week on the Riverdale Podcast (at that link, click the image to access the mp3) to discuss the recent news about Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa being named Chief Creative Officer of Archie Comics and Lena Dunham working on writing a title for the company.

The segment about these announcements starts at 9:55, with separate discussion segments with me (11:50) talking about Hollywood/comic connections and Chris Sims (25:14), who’s spoken with Aguirre-Sacasa about his love of the characters.

Cool I’ll have to listen to that tonight. Did you discuss the con announcement that Archie was sending Betty & Veronica away in order to bring in 2 new characters? I saw that somewhere months back, but can’t find it anywhere now. So maybe it was a rumor or just something misheard.

No, I hadn’t heard that, so we didn’t talk about it. Sounds like the never-happened announcement that they were going to bring out a second magazine-format title, Veronica and Betty.

    I found the article http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=48518

It was from last year’s New York Comic Con Archie Panel, which had a rather tasteless Veronica head on a hamburger picture. All this time and no further word though, makes me wonder if the idea wasn’t dropped.

I think sometimes that company uses announcements as press bait, seeing what kind of reaction they get. This wouldn’t be the first time one of their convention announcements never happened. Thanks for hunting that link down.

Hope so, as I see no reason to write two women out to bring 2 women in. Unless there’s a really weird population control law in Riverdale.

Well I guess I was asking a few ays too early
