Last week, Marvel announced that they were launching Marvel Universe Ultimate Spider-Man for free as their “first all-ages Infinite Comics series”. (Infinite Comics are their digital releases, enhanced with limited animation.) It’s intended to tie into their “hit animated series” of the same name.
I was curious to see the comic, but there was no information on how to get this digital comic in the press release, just notices that the cartoon airs Sunday mornings on Disney XD. So I went to Marvel’s online comic store and searched for Marvel Universe. The first Spider-Man title that turns up, with the same name, is a free “Share Your Universe” issue, an old release.
I still have no idea how to get this free comic, which guest stars Nova, White Tiger, Power Man, and Iron Fist. My guess is that it’s still coming soon, even though the press release is titled “Marvel Releases Marvel Universe Ultimate Spider-Man Infinite Comic Series at SXSW Interactive”. Silly me for expecting to be able to read a comic when its press release hits, instead of waiting two months or more.
