Thanks to cinematically insane, I found out that the Paramount Vault is now a thing. Paramount Pictures has put a number of their movies on YouTube in full for free (with some ads). These include 91 full-length feature films originally released between 1941 and 2014, which makes for quite the range. You can catch action films, 60s dramas, and a couple of my favorite comedies.

If you’ve never seen The Miracle of Morgan’s Creek, you’re in for a treat! It’s written and directed by Preston Sturges, and I’m amazed he even got it made in 1944. Betty Hutton stars as Trudy Cockenlocker, an everyday town girl who just wants to give the soldiers a fun night out before they go to war. When she finds out she’s pregnant, she doesn’t remember the name of her fake husband, and hilarity ensues as her wimpy boyfriend and snarky younger sister try to help her out of the jam.

From 1964, Audrey Hepburn and William Holden star in the meta-fictional Paris When It Sizzles. Holden’s a drunk screenwriter holed up in his hotel room with a script due on Monday. Hepburn’s his inspirational secretary. It’s got some flaws and holes, reportedly because Holden had real-life alcohol problems, but it’s a lovely-to-look-at sight from the last gasp days of classic Hollywood.

Readers of this site might also enjoy Artists and Models, a 1955 Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis flick in which Martin plays a comic book artist. I’ve never seen that one, but I’d love to hear what you think. For a full list of films available so far, visit the first link in this post.
