The Real Poop on Pigeons!

The Real Poop on Pigeons!

The author of We Dig Worms!, Kevin McCloskey, returns with another gross/cool examination of a common but misunderstood natural creature.

The Real Poop on Pigeons! features a group of pigeon-loving (and bird-costumed) kids explaining to adults how cool the birds are, disproving the myths that they’re “rats with wings” and do nothing but poop.

The Real Poop on Pigeons!

The birds are important:

  • historically – as letter carriers
  • aesthetically – as we see a bunch of different breeds with wild feathers and colors
  • biologically – as we learn about their relatives, doves and dodos
  • artistically – with some info on Picasso, who loved the birds
  • legendarily – as we get an answer to why we never see baby pigeons

All this info is delivered with a sense of gusto and humor, painted on “pigeon-blue Fabriano paper, the kind used by Picasso”. It’s a quick read, but one to enjoy repeatedly and share with others.

See preview pages and other resources at the publisher’s website. The Real Poop on Pigeons! will be out on April 19. (The publisher provided a review copy.)
