Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor Becomes Ongoing From Titan Comics

Last year, Titan Comics added to their slate of Doctor Who titles with a Ninth Doctor miniseries, featuring the likeness of Christopher Eccleston. I thought the idea was a good one, but the execution was disappointing. It appears that other fans had a more favorable opinion, since Titan has announced the series will return as an ongoing beginning next month, on April 14, with a cover price of $3.99. This will be the fourth monthly Doctor Who comic title, joining the Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth Doctors. (At least, I hope it’s monthly. The miniseries came out roughly every two months from April through December 2015.)

The miniseries writer, Cavan Scott, will continue, and the first three issues will feature art by Adriana Melo (Miss Marvel). Typical of these comics, there will be six variant covers, shown here:

The plot is described as “In Part 1 of ‘DOCTORMANIA’, the Doctor, Rose, and Captain Jack uncover a mysterious video. Tracking down its source could help Jack uncover why his mind was wiped — but the first step takes the Doctor to a planet where he is, inexplicably, a celebrity!” That explains the cellphone cover, anyway.
