Do You Want to Be on a Boat With Walking Dead Fans?

Wizard World, the leading purveyor of pop culture cons featuring TV celebrities, has announced that they’re going to launch a Wizard World Cruise this December, with headlining guest Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead). Also trapped on a boat with fans will be Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters) and Barry Bostwick (The Rocky Horror Picture Show), with more celebrities, artists, and cosplayers to be announced.

The ship will sail from Miami on Nassau from December 2-5, with prices starting at $749/person. Cruises are popular among older travelers looking for an all-inclusive, reasonably priced vacation, and there have been a variety of music-themed, for example, fan cruises in the past available to that audience.

This isn’t even the first comic-related cruise. “Making Waves: the CBLDF Fundraising Cruise” happened in April 2000, featuring a ton of comic creators. (This press release promised “Neal Adams, Brian Azzarello, Kurt Busiek, Dan Clowes, Evan Dorkin, Sara Dyer, Will Eisner, Neil Gaiman, Jaime Hernandez, Gilbert Hernandez, Frank Miller, Martin Nodell, Brian Pulido, P. Craig Russell, Jeff Smith, Jill Thompson, Adrian Tomine, Matt Wagner, Mark Waid, Chris Ware, and more.”) A planned followup never happened. Here’s an ad promoting it, via Evan Dorkin:

Anyway, the Wizard World Cruise promises an artist alley, cosplay contests, exhibitors, parties, video game tournaments and more. The base package includes celebrity photos, all meals onboard as well as open bar, a special cruise-only gift item, and access to all Wizard World events on the ship. Love that tag line!
