Thom Zahler’s Next Project: Drunk Time Travel!

I’m a big fan of Thom Zahler’s work, because he’s one of the very few cartoonists creating comic book romantic comedies that work as both love stories and funny books. His best-known is Love and Capes, which follows a superhero romance with more emphasis on the characters than the heroing. I was also fond of Long Distance which, as the title suggests, explored a cute couple separated by distance who fell in love at an airport.

He’s now announced his next project, Time and Vine, which sounds fascinating. (And not as silly as my goofy title suggests.)

It’s the story of a history teacher who finds out that the local winemaker has a secret. If you drink a glass of wine in his secret cellar, you travel back in time to when the wine was bottled. I love this idea! It’s clever, and it sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun while still developing substantial characters.
