Eternals: A Marvel Knights Animation Motion Comic

I was surprised when Eternals arrived, since I didn’t remember a comic by Neil Gaiman and John Romita Jr. about a race of super-powered Jack Kirby creations hiding as humans recapturing their memories and powers. (Turns out it was a limited series that ran from 2006-2007.) This Marvel Knights Animation production consists of ten episodes, each ranging from 10 to 13 minutes. There’s minimal animation — figures moved against a background, lips and eyes opening and closing — an approach […]

Wolverine vs. Sabretooth: The Marvel Knights Animation Motion Comic

Out tomorrow is the latest Marvel Knights motion comic release from Shout! Factory, Wolverine vs. Sabretooth. I tried to watch it, I did. But I don’t like Jeph Loeb’s writing. I didn’t like the prehistoric werewolf opening or watching bloody scenes of disembowelment while the narrator, Wolverine, says things to himself like “Having spent the better part of my life with no real certainty who I was or where I came from. And no, it wasn’t the beer. Suddenly, I […]

Marvel Motion Comics Continue Wolverine Focus

After the release of Wolverine: Origin last month, Shout! Factory has announced the next Marvel Knights motion comic DVD release will be Ultimate Wolverine Vs. Hulk, due out September 10. Another Wolverine title makes sense, given this summer’s The Wolverine movie release. I hadn’t thought about Ultimate Wolverine Vs. Hulk since its release, since it was notorious for taking a ridiculous amount of time to continue, probably because it was written by Damon Lindelof (Lost), whom one assumes had other […]

I had thought that the Marvel Knights Animation motion comic series from Shout! Factory might be wrapping up after the four-volume Joss Whedon Astonishing X-Men releases. I was wrong. Shout! Since then, there’s been Iron Man: Extremis, Black Panther, Spider-Woman: Agent of S.W.O.R.D., and Thor & Loki: Blood Brothers. Astonishing X-Men: Dangerous is […]
