Watson and Holmes Returns in Mutiny Magazine

We live in an era where nothing is dead forever. Brand awareness is so difficult to develop, with so many things demanding our attention, that anything that was somewhat successful has a chance to come back. Which means I shouldn’t be surprised that Watson and Holmes, the urban comic version of the classic characters, has a new story coming out! But I am very pleased. This is one of my favorite takes on the character in comics. We last saw […]

ComicMix to Publish Lost Seuss Stories

This is a bit devious. Last year, ComicMix ended up settling a lawsuit brought by the Dr. Seuess estate. That decision prohibited them from publishing Oh, The Places You’ll Boldly Go!, a Kickstarted Seuss/Star Trek mashup. A The most recent ruling had said that such combinations are not parodic or transformative. Apparently, as part of that lawsuit, research was done on the Seuss copyrights. Now ComicMix is crowdfunding The Zaks and Other Lost Stories, a collection of six stories now […]

More Enola Holmes Comics Coming

As pointed out by Craig Shutt, the upcoming Enola Holmes: The Graphic Novels, graphic novel versions of the Nancy Springer books adapted by Serena Blasco, has a sequel available at Amazon. That means three more comic book versions of the girl detective! Book 2 is due out in October, containing The Case of the Peculiar Pink Fan, The Case of the Cryptic Crinoline, and The Case of the Baker Street Station. Interestingly, those titles match volumes 4-6 of the Springer […]

2120 Choose-Your-Path Graphic Novel Out in May

Out in May is an intriguing graphic novel from Avery Hill Publishing. 2120 by George Wylesol is a choose-your-own-path … well, adventure doesn’t seem the right word, as you’re a computer repairman trapped in a generic office building. You follow choices through the pages, although many of them, at least at the beginning, are very similar looking rooms and hallways. (I had a review PDF, but that is my least favorite format for these kinds of books that require jumping […]

Enola Holmes Comics Collected

From 2018-2020, IDW put out three Enola Holmes comics. They were slim graphic novel hardcovers by Serena Blasco, translated from the French. As comics, they were well-done; most of the issues I had were with the source premises from the novels by Nancy Springer. And even those were required by the young adult genre, ridiculous as they are. Now, for the price of one of those, you can get all three, with the paperback Enola Holmes: The Graphic Novels coming […]
