Wizard World Launches Con Radio

To go along with CONtv, their online network, Wizard World has announced CON Radio, a combination of live audio streaming and podcasts. They’ve got nine programs available now, with more promised for later this summer and “live streaming from Wizard World Comic Con shows nationally.” Here’s the program list, planned to update weekly unless otherwise noted. The Classics show sounds most interesting to me, although I haven’t listened to any yet. Common Room – A female-take on the geek culture […]

Bryan Lee O’Malley Launches Ongoing Series

With no timeframe announced, Image Comics plans to publish a new ongoing series written by Bryan Lee O’Malley (Scott Pilgrim, Seconds) called Snotgirl. (Well, that’s certainly distinctive.) The creative team consists of artist Leslie Hung, colorist Mickey Quinn, and letterer/designer Maré Odomo, and the premise is “a dark comedy set in the world of fashion bloggers.” Here’s the description: Lottie is a huge success — she’s blog famous! Her online persona is flawless and fun, but her real life is […]

The fascinating, of-the-times, digital comic The Private Eye, a near-future-set sci-fi mystery in a world with no internet and no public interaction without costumes or anonymity, will be coming to print this fall from Image Comics. Cool-Looking Comics Due in August

Hey, it’s Previews time again! Orders are due to your local comic shop by June 18 if you’re interested in committing to buy anything from the current catalog. Here are some items I found interesting-looking. Zodiac Starforce #1 (JUN15 0045, $3.99) — a four-issue miniseries from Kevin Panetta, Paulina Ganucheau, and Dark Horse. Previously a webcomic, this series should appeal to fans of Sailor Moon and Steven Universe, since it features teen girls with magic powers. The Eltingville Club #2 […]

C. Spike Trotman, Kickstarter goddess behind Smut Peddler, has a new project out, and there’s only three days left to participate. New World is a fantasy/SF comic anthology about culture clash and civilizations in conflict. It will have 25 stories by 30 creators, including Zach Weinersmith (Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal), Matt Howarth (Those Annoying Post Brothers), and Carla Speed McNeil (Finder, No Mercy). It’s already well over-funded, so at this point, it’s just a pre-order to get the PDF ($15) […]

A Voice in the Dark Cancelled

A Voice in the Dark was an intriguing series by Larime Taylor published by Image Comics. It was the story of a young woman going to college, where she was a night DJ. She was also a murderer. We’d see her thoughts as she pondered whether someone deserved to be killed or how she set up an alibi. It was a unique, disturbing portrait. Most amazingly, the artist created it all using his mouth, since Taylor is disabled. The series […]
