A New WWE/Hanna-Barbera Cartoon Movie Coming

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed watching Scooby-Doo! and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon, which put the classic Hanna-Barbera kid detectives together with a whole flock of professional wrestlers. Now comes word of the next mashup. This time, WWE Superstars Big Show, Alicia Fox, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Sheamus will meet the Jetsons in The Jetsons & WWE: Robo-Wrestlemania. Here’s the plot: In the midst of an exhibition match, a powerful snow storm freezes Big […]

Movie Adaptation of a “Best-Selling Graphic Novel” I’ve Never Heard Of

I got a press release for the upcoming thriller Bad Kids of Crestview Academy, out digitally and “in select theaters” on January 13, 2017. I don’t normally pay attention to thriller press, because I’m squeamish and can’t watch movies based around people trying to kill each other in gruesome ways, but this one caught my eye because of the prominent line “based on the best-selling graphic novel series”. I was somewhat surprised that there was a “best-selling graphic novel series” […]

Marvel Announces Digital Hulk Animated Movie for Halloween

Marvel announced that they would be premiering “the first animated, feature-length film centered on Hulk” later this month. Marvel’s Hulk: Where Monsters Dwell will team the Hulk with Dr. Strange and the Howling Commandoes and be available beginning October 21 on Digital HD. Sounds like a neat idea and good timing for Halloween, but the “first feature-length” cartoon claim confused me, since I reviewed Planet Hulk, an 80-minute direct-to-DVD release starring the Hulk, back in 2010. Anyway, Where Monsters Dwell […]

Harley Quinn Movie Possibility Brings Another Female Lead

The Hollywood Reporter yesterday broke the news that “months ahead of the opening of Suicide Squad, Warner Bros. is already contemplating a spinoff for the DC Entertainment anti-heroine, Harley Quinn.” Margot Robbie plays the crazy character, and she will produce the proposed film as well. She discovered how great DC’s female characters are while researching her role, and she developed the project and brought it to Warners. Harley’s sense of weird and wacky flippancy fits right in with the attitude […]

Thoughts on the X-Men: Apocalypse Trailer

X-Men: Apocalypse will be in theaters two weeks from tomorrow, as Memorial Day weekend kicks off the summer movie-going season. It follows X-Men: Days of Future Past, but the alliances and leadership has changed. This time, it’s Raven (Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence) leading a group of young X-Men “with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy)… to stop Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) and the Four Horseman.” The reviews so far… haven’t been good. Since they don’t hold press screenings in my […]
