Creative Minicomic Sales Approach: Uncle Envelope

The folks behind Shortpants Press, makers of fine minicomics like Ouija Interview, have introduced me to Uncle Envelope, a subscription service for tweens and older kids.
For $36 a year (in the US, more elsewhere), you get an envelope a month containing a
different and exciting paper object or craft each month. What is so cool about paper? It’s that paper can be made into so many things. Such as a funny mini-comic or a set of trading cards. Or it might be a fantastic map or blueprints you can use to create your very own robot, monster, or game.
I like the way a character and a concept wraps this together into a nifty subscription gift idea. And they’re playing on paper’s strengths: easily post-able, so flexible, the thrill of getting mail addressed just to you with a surprise inside.
Here are some of the artists involved so far, and they’re looking for more — for pay, even!
