Digital Manga Puts All Print Releases on Hiatus

Most will see this as a very bad sign, an indicator that business isn’t going well, but at least the company is being open about the announcement. Digital Manga has posted a message from their president that says … effective January 1st 2013, the print editions for our DMP, June Manga, DokiDoki, and 801Media imprints will be placed on a temporary hiatus. Please be advised that none of our licenses are cancelled, simply postponed. We will be resuming the distribution […]

Strobe Edge Volume 1

Although it’s quiet, without any particular gimmick to set it apart, I enjoyed reading this tale of first love. Ninako hasn’t ever been in love. One of her classmates, Daiki, is friendly towards her, so the girls tell her they should be together, but Ninako only gets those butterflies when she sees Ren, the aloof, popular, older boy everyone has a crush on. After a chance meeting on the train, Ninako gets to know Ren a little bit. There’s also […]

Bunny Drop Volumes 6-7

If you liked volume 5, volume 6 continues the story of Rin as a teenager. Me, I already have enough shojo school stories to read, so I still miss the tales of life with a little girl. I suppose this feeling can be reinterpreted as an accurate portrayal of how life is really like when you have a kid, that they all grow up eventually and don’t stay cute forever. I don’t want to read about that part, though. Now, […]

Twilight: The Graphic Novel Collector’s Edition

Just in time for Halloween comes this handsome repackaging of the graphic novel adaptation of the literary juggernaut that is Twilight. Both volumes, previously released separately in paperback, are contained in this chunky hardcover, packaged to sit nicely on the shelf next to the source novels. In a nice touch, the connecting covers of the two previous paperbacks are reprinted inside this volume’s dust jacket. It really is attractive packaging. When I stop to think about it, I can’t stand […]

Zen Pencils: A Weekly Dose of Inspiration

Every Tuesday, Gavin Aung Than posts a comic adaptation of an inspirational quote or poem at Zen Pencils, and they’re quite good. The most recent, with an excerpt shown here, is from Stephen Fry. This particular comic is an important life lesson as well as a small story in itself. The series overall makes for a great collection of thoughts on, as the author puts it, “science, art, literature, and history”. The archives are labeled by subject and person quoted, […]

Iron Man 3 Trailer Released

The marketing for Iron Man 3, opening in theaters May 3, 2013, is ramping up with today’s release of the trailer, as shown here: The movie, directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce and Shane Black, features Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) fighting the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley). As shown in various promotional photos, different suits of the Iron Man armor play a role, including what I’m assuming is a more patriotic version for War Machine (Don Cheadle […]
